The software that runs this site is very good! It notifies me when emails, that have been requested by a registered member, bounce. The down side to this is that some days I can receive a huge amount of bounced mail notifications which just clogs my mailbox. Emails bounce for a variety of reasons including: 1. Mailbox is full, and 2. mailbox no longer exists. You might be away on holidays so rather than delete your account I'll just go into your profile and deselect the topics you have chosen email notification for. Once you're back you can log on and re-select the topics you want email notification for and away we go! Normally, this only happens with hotmail, and some other FREE, email account providers. This is why you cannot sign up using hotmail as your email address. Below is a sample of what I receive. This is only the top of the header: Date: Thu, 17 Mar 2005 10:46:36 +0000 From: Mail Delivery System <mailer-daemon@fry.serversaint.com> To: ken@basejump.org Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: XXXXXXXXXX@hotmail.com SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<xxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com>: host mx1.hotmail.com [65.54.252.99]: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable |
