Hi all, Here at UK Pro BASE we are examining the possibilities of holding a balloon BASE event next year. Tentative approaches to hot air balloon pilots have resulted in much teeth sucking and murmurs of "ooh, no mate". Now I know that some tethered ballon jumping has been done in Oz 'cos I've seen it on a video a few years ago so I'm asking for some info from anyone who's been part of organising something like this. I'm certain we can get the CAA admin and permissions sorted, so I'm asking for the technical details of how it's done. Things like length of tether, material of tether, anchor points, what winch was used, how the ballon was flown, how long to get up and down, interesting characteristics of basket/balloon movement etc etc etc. Basically I'm after as much information that I can present to an interested ballon pilot so he's convinced that it can be done safely and also how to do it.
