Hi guys... I'm posting this on behalf of Neil Jarvis from N.Z. Does anyone know of any Australian companies that will provide insurance cover for the KL event? I recommended Specialty Risk Insurance, however they are based in the States..... Have fun... plummy |

The below except is from the IHI policy document. ART. 6 EXCEPTIONS FOR PAYMENT OF BENEFITS 6.1 The Company shall not be liable to pay out compensation which concern, k) accidents occurring due to participation in or training to: • Professional sports • Boxing, martial arts, rugby, fencing, hunting, polo, diving, mountain climbing, parachuting, paragliding or parasailing So that pretty much rules this policy out. On a positive though: 1. Buy your airfare with an AMEX card and you are automatically covered. The latest insurance add I received last month features a base jumper launching from a cliff. There is probably an out clause for them in the policy document as well 2. Last time I went I puchased coverage from the travel agent. I covered 'sanctioned parachuting events.' I don't remember the details but it was a generic type policy. I think it was about A$100 for 10 days. It was through Flight Centre. Cheers, Ken. |

The exception clause is out of the IHI personal accident insurance. I haven´t found a corresponding clause in the travel insurance or the health insurance policy. I stumbled on IHI on the British board, see www.basejumper.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=256. Walter |

Hey guys, I have been looking into IHI as well and asked them directly if they cover BASE jumping, they answered saying they do cover any legal base jumps in their travel insurance policy. Their response is pasted below. James Hi David The Travel insurance would cover base jumping, if it is legal. According to our conditions any illness or injury resulting from active engagement in any illegal act is not covered by the insurance (see Art. 11.1 z)). Kind regards Charlotte |
